Default washing your bike

I love my bike, I love 99.9% of motorcycles. The thing I hate more than anything is washing them. No point to this post just a rant.

I just finished washing my bike and I really don't enjoy it one bit. I always find spots I missed and so on. I even purchased a mr. clean wash kit thinking it would make life easier when it comes to washing. Nope
How much do places charge to wash a bike and do you think dealerships service shops would do that. I really hate it and it puts me into a bad mood. I'm not lazy or anything I just hate polishing and all that crap.

Am I alone out there.

If so how much do you guys pay for a wash and how much for a full detail type of wash.

I'm with ya on this one. It's a rare day when I feel like washing it. Usually when I go out to get started and end up going for a ride instead!

I guess I'm pretty lucky, when I'm at work I'm on for 24 hours straight which gives me time to wash my bike. It beats boredom that sometimes comes with the job, plus I can't be out riding since I'm at work. Not to mention, that the leaf blower we have at work comes in handy as a great drying tool!

What's so tough about washing it? I spray it with S100, rinse. Wash the bug coveredparts and chrome with a good wash/wax mix and a sheepskin mitt, then rinse. I blow it dry with a leaf blower and maybe towel a spot here or there that has a water spot. I can be done from start to finish in 20 minutes. About every other time, I wax it.....Not a 2 hour rubbing session. Just a wipe on, wipe off deal with a good wax/polish. This adds about 10 minutes.

I wouldn't pay someone to do it. I think that's nearly a pure waste of money. It's gonna get dirty as soon as you ride it. My personal feeling is that if you are able to ride it, you should be able to wash it.

Well, I'd rather be other there riding but I also like a clean bike.

I'm developing a system that's pretty quick and painless. I've been using S100 (spray on) and hose off. Then use a leaf blower to dry. That's easy and quick; it takes about twenty minutes.

If I want to show a little more bike love, I'll use some S100 Bike Detailer. And maybe once a month, I'll hit it with some wax.

I wash mine once a week its sort of a Zen thing, that and anyone with a black bike knows that a lot of times once a week is not near enough.

I've posted this before; I prefer to wash my own bikes, but if it's something you really hate, find a good detail shop. Most will do a wash and wax on you bike for about $25.00 - $50.00.......I wouldn't take mine to a dealership (and I work at one), but that's just me. For the time it takes, (Mothers Glaze, a good car soap, a sponge, a wash mit, detail brush & a dryer and I'm done in an hour) I enjoy it, but it's just not some peoples thing. I do take mineto a detail shop here in town once or twice a year and have them buff out the scratches (all 3 are black and when this detail shop is done, they look like new). I have to disagree about the S100, never found it worked very well, just a waste of money, IMO

I hate washing & waxing anything, but sometimes ya just have to. Iuse my bike for a go bike, not a show bike. If I'm going on a poker run, or to a ralley of some kind, I'll do it up right, but to take a cruise or to work & back, no. I do have a buddy that's a clean freak, & he's actually cleaned my bike a couple of timesjust cause he like to wash & wax them. His bike is always spotless.

think of it as a pre-flight inspection...gives you time to look and check everything out, and you get a clean ride to boot. or never wash it, rat bikes rock.

It's so much easier than a car! I wash it like a car, rinse, blow dry with leaf blower, micro towel a few areas; done! 1/2 hour at most. Don't do it that often because you can spot clean in between. Windex works great on chrome. Detailer or spray wax on paint. Wax/polish chrome and paint once in awhile. Spokes are a pain though. But once you get them really clean and polished, s100 keeps them that way easier with a hose off and air. Very fast. Just don't let the brake dust, etc. build up.
