washing your bike

RE: washing your bike
I wash my bike usually once a week or so. Some may cringe at the thoughts, but basically all I do is spray the bike down with water, take whatever multi-ourpose cleaner I have handy and spray down the bars, front end, fenders, seat, tanks, etc...hose it off. Then I spray down the engine, tranny, underside of fenders, wheels, etc...hose it off. Then I dry it off with a damn towel, because I don't have a leaf blower. Works for me.

I do bike detailing for a local shop. I don't work for them but they give out my cards and people either bring the bike into the shop for me or sometimes I go to their house and work. I charge 90.00 min for a wash and full engine detail, polish chrome, paint sealant and wax. Price goes up accordingly for baggers and buffing out excessive scratches and swirls. Usually, I include a one step machine polish on all bikes without charge just because I can't stand to see the bike leave all swirled up even it the owner didn't pay to have it fixed. I think the local Harley shop charges 120 or something like that to just wash and wax the bike. Several people have told me that their bikes look better than they did when they bought them, when I am done. It takes me 4 hours minimum with a bike in fair shape, usually closer to 4.5-5 hours.

By the way,I don't like washing Mine either but I hate to see it filthy so I do it.It's a double edge sword I guess.

Unfortunately, also an **** retentive thing...I cannot enjoy a ride unless it's clean! It's a Zen thing. [8D]
