If you need a zipper to put on pull up boot maybe you need boy servant to help you.

I don't like to be one that lets cosmetics effect him, but the zipper really looks bad on standard boot. Really sticks out.

Georgia Boot waterproof Wellington's. Steel toe or not I have both. Just a plain ole great boot.
Also have a pair of Harley Stormbringer's.
And a pair of Daytona motorcycle boots for summer.

Kinda like gloves....one pair is never enough.

Here is what I thought I wanted: a leather work boot along the lines of the Wolverine 1000 mile boot. Not sure this meets any kind of "standard" for appropriate protection. http://www.wolverine.com/US/en/origi...W05299#start=1

What I see others choosing: heavy, traditional-looking harness or engineer boots. Not real keen on the heavy "biker" looking boots, though I get that they provide a high level of protection.

So what are the elements of a good boot choice?
I prefer the Wolverine Durashock W03123 in black. I've been wearing this boot forever the last 30 years. Last year thought I'd experiment and went with a Red Wing Irish Setter, treads gone, just ordered another set of durashocks. This what works for me, never cared for the all terrain tread on most boots.

Something to consider: Longevity.
Rebuildable or throwaways?

I would know it is there, and that is what counts. John Wayne is turning in his grave.

I am going more to throw aways. The rest of the boot has lost support by the time the soles are shot.

Also I am starting to think injection molding is better. It is cheaper, which is why the companies do it. But it seems better too. Modern maybe.

My favorite boot right now is Meindl light hunter, it really locks in place, better then Denalli. This is more of hiking boot. But I have been wearing it on the bike, until I find something else. I was wearing bates last year, and that pair seem to have lost my love.

I am moving more towards boots with asymetrical or big toe box, especially in safety toe.

I am interested in Danners, but many are skinny and narrow toe. GF loves her Arcadians though.
