http://www.511tactical.com/atac-storm-boot.html Light weight, comfortable, waterproof, non-slip sole & side zip. I've been wearing this brand since 07. They have many other boots you should check out. Good luck.

I see so many alleged MC boots everywhere I go. I've had mine ~ I guess they're called Engineers boots - now for >25 years, only had them re-soled. They're comfortable and provide full ankle protection - and the heel is ~ 1" or less. I condition them 1/yr with a leather dressing and they're going strong.

No lace up boots for Uncle G. for reasons that were explained. Laces get caught on shift levers at the worst possible time. They also come untied and are a pain to put on/take off.
I have two pairs of "engineer boots". For warm weather, I wear a pair of 11" high H-D boots I've had for I don't know how long, but long enough for 2-3 sets of heels and a set of half soles. For cool/cold weather, I wear a pair of Chippewa 16" (knee high) steel toe engineer boots. I tuck my pants into them, trooper style.
I NEVER ride without boots.
