I know this topic has been has been addressed on here a few times already but I haven't found a confirmed answer. Upgrading to the mini apes on my 13 FLHTC. From what I have read I will definitely have to get longer cables & not be able to use stock correct? If not are there any complete kits on the market that can be recommended to get this done? Cheers.
I believe you can go as high as 10" as long as they are not Yaffees. I had 12's on mine and had to get new cables. Not that mechanically inclined so I had the dealer order and install the mini apes. They did a great job, for about $2000.00
I thought the point of those wings were to keep wind off of your hands, wouldent including apes then make the wing useless just asking not being a troll

They are the 12"s so that is what I was afraid of. Ha! Well this little project just got a little more complicated & expensive.
I've put the HD mini apes on my bike and another. Didn't extend any wires and didn't change any cables on either bike. Do a search in the touring section. There are multiple threads. Just make sure you look at the ones specificity about those bars.

This is the issue I've been having. I've been finding both answers. Some say yes. Some say no. The only way I'll get the definitive answer I guess is to just get into it & see what happens. It's going to get done one way or another. Appreciate the replies!

I ran into that when I did my first set. But believe me its absolutely doable if you do it your self. The only thing that will go back in the stock location is the TBW harness...everything thing else has to be rerouted or tweaked. The hand control harnesses will be moved off the inner fairing crossbars to down by the sides of the radio. The front brake line just get tweaked a little at the master cylinder. And the clutch cable will need to be rerouted and the best way to go about that is unhook it at the leaver side and see what works best for you.
