Default Taking over the world

WTF: Back in the seventies I was one of four Harley owners in my town of 30000. Now that I'm back into it in 07 it's like every other bike is HD. Absolutely friggn amazing how so many people just have to have one. With a group the other day and an old Triumph Bonniville goes by. Everyone looks with interest as it goes by. Complete opposite of what it used to be. Harley sales must be incredible around the world.

its been a long running fad these last several years but I think its starting to fade. hollywood movies n and biker type TV shows are whats made it last this long , everybody trying to cash in on it.
harley has a surplus , ebay and traders are full of them plus trikes seem to be gaining steam............

People have more money these days, and more access to loans..
When I bought my first bike in 1979, I was drooling over the silver & black Lowrider.
Trouble was that it was over $5,000.00. That was a huge chunk of change back then.
I ended up buying a jap bike so I could ride.
One of my buddies sprung for an 1981 all Black with red striped Lowrider, and man, THAT was the bike!

Now, things are different.
Everybody has a new car or truck. I've got three.
Back then, we were still filling holes on the body with Bondo and buying junk yard parts...

So, Harleys are more affordable these days, and definitely more plentyful.
