I was there over the summer. I didn't rent a bike. The roads look iffy and it didn't really look like much fun. I did meet a guy who did it once and said it wasn't all that great. However, riding my bike off a cruise ship does hold a certain appeal...

Last Christmas I was on Voyager of the Seas. Went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I was too cheap to do the HD tour in Cozumel. Your best bet is renting jeeps and going off by yourself. If you go to the far side of the Island there is a really nice beach that few know of plus a neat Bob Marley restaurant. Also near there is Cocanuts. I would not want to ride a motorcycle the way people drive down there.
I forgot to mention when we stopped at Cozumel we just paid $60ish bucks and went to an all inclusive resort. In 2006 we had stayed in Cozumel for a week at the Cozumelono resort so we had already expireienced the Island.

The riding off and on ship does sound like a hoot and I love my bike but I'm not sure I like it enough to take it on a cruise, I prefer the wife. She is much better at fetching me dem little umbrella drinks and after hours she is a little more fun to ride. Seriously it does sound like fun but on a cruise I prefer to splash my big hairy body in the water, drink til I'm happy and eat til I can't hold any more. Several activities that I'd just as soon leave the bike home for and enjoy it when I get back rather than worry about a big wave tossing it over.

That's not always a good thing. Last time I was down in Playa there were way too many european seniors who shed all. Some things just aren't meant to see the light of day anymore (like my breakfast).

Boy you aint shetin there. We went there on Carnival for our honeymoon, & the Taxi ride into town & back to the ship scared the bejesus out of us. It took 2 or 6 beers to calm my nerves.
