Chippewa Rally Boot fit

Chippewa Rally Boot fit
Chippewa's website says to order half a size smaller than your running shoe size. I have some sneakers that are 9.5, some 10. I ordered size 9 boots. Too big, sent them back exchanged for 8.5. I got them today, and I'm trying to convince myself that they fit, but I'm not so sure. I know some heel slippage is normal with this type of boot when new, but I feel like I'm getting more slippage around the middle of my foot than I should. Can anyone who owns these boots tell me how they fit when they were new, and what to expect as the leather breaks in. I know they are stiff now, but I'm wondering if the leather will conform to my foot some as they soften. I can't imagine I would need a size 8, and I'm about ready to send them back and give up. I really want to like them, but they are too expensive to settle for not quite right.

I find that most Chippewa run about a size larger than other boots, they are my preferred brand. I would also get a nice set of cushion insoles and put in them. I usually don't have that option, I wear a size 15 or 16 EE and most boots only go up to 14 so I have to get a local shoe shop to condition and stretch most of my new boots.

I have an insole that i began using in my Chippewa harness boots as they have stretched out a bit since 1998. They definitely come a half size to full size large depending on your foot width. I normally wear a 9.5 EEE or 10 EE but I wear a 9 EE in Chippewas. I can't speak on every model but mine have been re-soled 4 times and are still going strong.
