What did you wear in the 70's/80's?

I'm assuming you mean while riding. In the 70's it was 3/4 helmet, mesh jersey, jeans and big side buckle motocross boots (I rode dirt bikes in those days). In the '80's it was jeans, t-shirts, steel toed boots bought through my workplace and a leather jacket from Sears. The jacket cost me $90 and served me well for many years until I couldn't zip it up anymore (it was a size 36-I was a skinny dude in those days). I wore either a full face helmet or a 3/4 with face shield in those days and rode Yamaha sport bikes.

So was mine. It was a great jacket. Bristol is still around, but expensive compared to all the offshore stuff around these days. They used to custom make jackets for people way back.

My first leather jacket was one I had custom made in 1983, by a local tailor, when I was stationed at Kunsan AB in Korea. I showed him a picture in a magazine and picked out a nice, thick black cowhide. He made a really nice jacket; kind of bomber style with lots of pockets including concealed inside pockets. I wore that thing constantly for years, it even served me as a pillow or blanket a few times! Two of my sons wore it throughout their high school days and it still hangs in my closet today, although pretty beat up. The only reason I don't still use it is because I'm at least 50 lbs heavier now than I was back then.
