Bought my first leather jacket from Sears and Roebuck back in 1981. Unfortunately I no longer have a 29” waist, so it’s long gone.

Today I wear a H-D jacket I bought in 2005. It survived the crash last year better than I did so I still wear it.

Someone mentioned Just Leathers, they were a mainstay here in the Bay Area since the 70s. I bought my first and several other vests there, with and without patches. Bought three jackets there over the years, and they custom made them to fit. They sold me the best pair of chaps I will ever own, though I outgrew them. Even after they put some "v" panels in the thighs and put on a bigger belt! Nice, thick leather and decent hardware. Unfortunately, I think they closed up with the pandemic.

Also wore engineer boots and big bells. I run open belt on my Pan, and I remember the bells getting caught in the engine sprocket and doing half a rev, kinda tugged the leg once in a while. Left a nice, greasy belt/pulley print on the inside of the pant leg. Good stuff!

It was such a fun time. Did a lot of crazy stuff back then.

Johnson Leathers in San Fran is another good spot for a riding gear, cheaper than Just, quality is as good and bigger selection. They make it all in house so you can have one made to your specs very reasonable.

I gave up on leathers as having 2 stolen out here in Ca.

In the 60's and 70's I wore the same thing I wear today. T-shirt, jeans and leather boots... They were a much smaller size back then!
