Bout 75 on Interstate is all I am willing to do and I would not want to that for that long. It is not why I ride. But to each there own.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Road to Hollister once with a group that was doing 80 To 90. Never again

In a group 75 to 80mph is enough, on my own 85mph at times, depends on road conditions and good views of cops lying in wait.

Default 85-90 mph

On a touring bike with a fairing, it isn't as bad on the rider but on a bike without a fairing it can beat you senseless. Never mind the ticket thing, it just takes one little o-no for folks to be mangled or dead in a hurry.

Does anyone enjoy riding like this? It seemed stressful. I'm comfortable around 75 maybe.
Just curious...
To fast for a group ride. I might (and have) run that fast by myself out west where the limit is 75 or 80, but that fast would probably use enough gas that an extra fuel stop would be needed and use up any time saved.

70 is my main speed and also being from Illinois I know exactly how crappy the roads are here. I think those speeds are dangerous with crumbling roads.

If I was riding with someone who insisted on going that fast I'd just drop out. I always carry maps and have a phone. I know my way home.

I can't believe nonayuz asked the only question that matters...what kind of mileage do you get at that speed?

I don't need to ask - I know from experience it sucks. Not for that length of time, but on a tank at that speed my range drops to well under 200 miles. 175-185 tops. I'm good for 225 at 77 MPH with some cushion. That's a 50 mile difference in range. That difference really impacts an eta.

As mentioned, the time saved in covering ground is lost at the gas station.

A shining example of an idiot who probably gets home safely every night and leaves a trail of traffic jams and accidents caused by others checking up to give him room.

Talk to your group and pick another road captain. If your group likes him, make him a T shirt that says, "ride to die" and find another group.
