Thanks for the help. The dog is well trained and quiet. I will try to find some eye protection for her. I have heard of doggles but have not yet found them for sale in Canada.

Not all service dogs are for the blind. Epileptics and severe Diabetics have them as well.

We met a couple at restaurant with a small dog they traveled with in a pet carrier. He had a short strap attached that allowed him to stick his head out of the top. We watched them leave and dog appeared to really love it.

Many Motels are allowing for pets now a days. Motel 6 has always allowed for pets, as they do a lot of trucker business, and many of them carry pets. My suggestion is scout out your route before you leave, plan your stays, and research the motels in that area. Restaurants are a totally different story.... The national news just aired a story showing Restaurants in the Atlanta area are just now allowing pets, and I don't mean just service dogs either, But that was a battle with the "FDA". If I were you, and I don't know you.... I would find a truck stop in your area, Have breakfast there one morning, you will see many Truckers walking their dogs before having breakfast, or upon stopping, don't be afraid to ask your questions there, Those guys treat their pets better than most of us treat our kids. Just my opinion, hope this gives you so ideas.

The Dog Goggles are a regular item sold by Pet Smart, either shop Pet Smart, or check out Amazon. I'm again not sure of the offerings in Canada. Hope this helps.

I've ridden with my dogs for 30 years. Red Roof Inn, Most La Quinta, Motel 6 several others allow dogs.
Many restaurants around here [florida] allow dogs. If they don't I move on.
Mine sit on my lap and are tethered to a pair of suspenders I wear.

People must think us dog lovers are a strange breed, and maybe we are. We treat them like our children. I recently spent nearly $2000 in vet bills for my Scottish Terrier "Maggie". It was worth every penny. Don't know how I would survive without her.

The few times I want to eat at a place that has no outdoor seating, I leave him in his bag with everything but one vent closed up. He just sleeps and no one even knows he's there. If I already checked into a hotel, I will just leave him in the hotel room while I go and eat. Some hotels say not to leave the dog unattended but if it is a 6 pound dog that is quiet and well-behaved, no one will know, nor complain.

There are definitely limitations to what you can do when traveling with a dog...but having done plenty of road trips with and without him, I can say that when he's with me, I never even notice the limitations.

Photobucket is down for server maintenance at the moment but if I remember, I'll come back to post a picture of him on the bike on our last trip.
