"Rare" FXR on Craigslist
#34
according to the owner's quote
this model wasn't available for sale in California so it seems unlikely Sonny Burgess had one . of course he is an outlaw motorcycle club member , maybe he had one shipped in from Arizona .
The Disc Glide wasn't available at all in the Golden State, a victim of California's emission regulations which mandate evaporative control systems on motorcycles built after January 1, 1984.

Stupid ****er (speaking of the seller). There was no FXWGDG motorcycle. A 1984 (or 1983) Disc Glide was simply a FXDG. I had a 1984 Wide Glide. It was a FXWG. Disc Glide was a Wide Glide with a solid rear wheel. But it was always FXDG. And a 1984 FXDG has dual front disc brake. 1983 FXDG has single front brake. Seller is full of it.

I do have to say that it is a sweet bike. Anyone here ever actually ridden one?

Rear brake pedal switch isn't working. Brake light didn't come on when he presses rear pedal.

Yeah, and what you said reminded me of something else: Wasn't the Disc Glide built on the old FX frame, and not the FXR frame? Something seems a bit off the more I think about it.
Yep, I just watched that video. FX frame all right.

Nope.
The FXR on Craigslist in post #1 -is- a "Disc Glide".
When the FXR's were new, I believe they were originally called "Low Glide" so as not to conflict with the FX-framed "Low Rider".
Add the disc rear wheel, and voila!
Disc Glide...
