I understand wanting your bike to look good but if it is a ridden bike it will show the miles - scuffed paint, rock chips, scratches,... If you ride it, it happens. If it doesn't happen then you aren't riding it. Relax and enjoy the ride.

You guys need to relax, stop holding onto the bike with a deathgrip (with your legs) and enjoy the ride.

LMAO

I've got the same thing going on with my bike. It used to really bother me. I don't think about it much anymore and when I do, it still bothers me a bit, but it is what it is. The black bikes really show it though.

Thanks for all of the replies. I should make it known I just took delivery of the bike so this is the original owners riding style, not mine. I try to be relaxed usually. I'm a little disappointed that the new harley paint wears so easily like this though.

Good luck trying to get any kind of warranty on the paint or chrome. MoCo has like a 100ft rule. If it can't be see at 100 feet then it's not an issue. Ok I exaggerated a little..I think its 5 or 6 feet.

haha. I'd only try if it was a known issue. If thats just how it is and they won't warranty the paint, i'll just live with it.

Flintz is a chrome cleaner/polish and will clean up paint marks. I have had good luck with it on both. It's expensive.

Cool

Buff it out and then put a coating on all painted surfaces

Inspecting closer, it looks like micro scratches from jeans rubbing down the clear coat or something. Everything is still black paint, but the area is just dull and cloudy. Does this come with the territory? Any ways to get this out or at least much less noticeable? I could live with it and wouldn't want to pay to repaint the tank, but wondering others experiences. Thanks for any insight/help.
I'm seeing the same thing on my bike. I'm going to try and correct it with my D/A polisher, then get some 3M clear wrap applied over the area to protect it in the future.
