Default Any tricks for running internal wires in Apes

I'm putting a set of 10" Twin Peaks on my FLHX and I run into a snag. I used the "blow a string thru the bars with an air nozzle" trick and that works great. I have both connectors off left and right switches. All good there. Now I'm a having a bitch ofa time trying to get wires all the way thru. What about taking the wrap off the wires?, as the wires are gonna be internal do you really need that?. Any tricks out help me out would be highly appreciated.

Thanks ...Scott

I'm an electrician and installed Primates on my Road King. Soap the wires with dish soap, etc. Use the string to guide the wires and push them through, not pull.

Never done apes on a bagger, but I've done a couple sets of T-bars on my old softail, that 90 was a pain. I ended up going down to an electrical supply store that has marine grade heat shrink tubing. The heavy tubing really did a good job of making the wires as tight a bundle as possible. Larry has the other half of the plan down, dawn for lubrication and push the wires more than pull them.

Don't remove the covering . It helps protect the wires from any burrs inside the bars.

I used a lot of silicone grease (coated the covering), and mechanic's wire to pull the wiring through my bars. It just takes time.

Cheers!

Long wires, no splices, twisted & taped, and what others said. Pull, soap, no sharp edges, and it's all good.

Stagger the wires to a point, each wire 1 inch behind the next, hold in place with electrical tape and lubricate generously with dish soap as mentioned earlier. This way it will feed easier around the bends. Once you have most of the wires exposed out of the handlebar's end you can unwrap the tape and pull each wire evenly one by one.
