I don't think you'll have a problem with the flashing being used when only applying the brakes. Some states do not allow you to have the tail light flashing constantly while you're riding. The rear brake flashers I've used in the past, CD & BAL, both flash faster than I can possibly squeeze the brake lever off and on, although if you don't have the brake flashers, that's a good idea.
