when to worry about oil temp
Sorry if this is in the wrong area, it's just that in the oil section, it seems to be mostly what type of oil is best, synthetic, AMSOIL......etc.
I live in Florida and as you may know, it's hotter than hell in the summer.
My buddy and I went on a pretty long ride and we wound up in Daytona. It was so freakin hot, we bought cheap swimsuits and changed out of our jeans and jumped into the ocean.
His Roadking has an oil cooler on it and my fatboy doesn't. My oil was around 275 degrees and I was wondering if that was reason for concern? When do you guys start worrying, or do you even worry?
He said I should shut up and buy the first beer at Gilley's on the way home and left me feeling like a wuss.

I'm far from an expert on this but from what I've read your oil should be in the 210-240 degree range to work effectively and most won't start breaking down till past 300 degrees.

About the only good advice I got from the last indy was...When ya hear the lifters making noise, then you should worry..
Harley's are notorious for not holding 'oil pressure'. It's a fact of life because the use roller bearing for the 'mains'...I've been stopped in 90+ degree traffic and watched my oil pressure go to '0'.
Ride on....These things aren't automobiles in that sense.

"Normal" operating temp in the manual is shown to be 230 degrees F.
These bikes supposedlyhave a shutdown feature that will kick-in if they get to the critical point on heat.
Use a good synthetic oil and you'll be fine - gives you that margin of protection when things reach the outer extremes.

I was running about 250 and thought it seemed hot, but as it was stated, they aren't automobiles in that sense. No foaming or lifter noise, so I guess everything was ok.
Thanks for the feedback.

250 ish is not bad at all.
If you are worried about it then change to a good quality synthetic and don't sweat it until you start seeing 325 plus.
Over that I'd shut down or get the bike moving.
