I need to purchase a trailer so I can get my bike to Florida from PA. I go south during the cold winter months. don't want to spend a lot of bucks on the trailer, just want one that will safetly do the job. Any suggestions on where to get one? Thanks

 

What part of Florida and ave you looked into the Train out of Sanford we are thinking of taking it up to DC and Riding the BlueRidge Kinda like a Rolling party

 

There isn't such a thing as an inexpensive trailer. Even used ones demand a premium price it seems.

You didn't state whether you wanted an enclosed trailer or not. An open trailer is much less expensive - usually less than a $grand$. Of course, your bike will be exposed to the elements.

A new 5 X 10 enclosed can be had for around $1800. That's probably the smallest trailer size that still will accomidate a RK.

 

 

I bought my 4X8 flatbed trailer at Tractor Supply Co. for 229.00 and added a 1/2" plywood floor and tiedowns for the quad and the RoadKing. Works great, I put a rubber bed mat on the wood to make it easier to clean when the quad drops mud on it.

 

Makes sense.Buy a cheap trailer and haul a expensive bike on it about a 1,000 miles

 

Why not just rent a uhaul, even if it's an every year thing it can't cost much morethan a couple hundred bucks and you don't have to worry about where to store your trailer or any upkeep.

on the other hand, a small enclosed trailer does give you a "garage" to store the bike out of the elementsif you don't have a real garage.

Beware, I rented a Uhaul bike trailer to go to the Thunder Beach rally in Fl. The thing shook so bad I brought it back after 10 miles, unloaded the bike, got another trailer(only other one they had) went to Florida. The second trailer wasn't as bad as the first but shookenough to knock out my headlight bulb and loosen up the mirror.[:@]

 

Go to your local Local Lowes, Tractor Supply or Home Depot and buy an open trailer for around 6-800. This will be a utility trailer or some call a landscape trialer or even look on E Bay. I have a large Landscape business and buy and sell trailers all the time. In fact just sold 2 for 450 each. There are many outlets for trailers and you can spend as much as you want to. Buy something that is versitle and make sure you get a spare tire before the journey.
