RE: Please help a newby
You got an okay deal on a low mileage, ten year old bike. Ride it knowing that the motor is nicely broke in. Or go back to the car dealership with the proof from the Harley dealership and see what ya can get.
I know that in Michigan when you trade in a car you have to sign a certification of miles. It pretty muchholds the dealer harmless, because theyonly know what is on the 'meter. And what theprevious owner 'certified'. So the car dealership might just tell ya, 'sorry, not our fault'. And have the legal backing to do so. Approach with caution. If they do agree to some compensation:Like most other's that have posted, I think $500 would be okay. If you could get $1000...ya 'stole' the bike.

you bought this bike at a car dealership right? well, the last time i went to a car dealership there weren't any harley mechanics working there. why didn't you request a maintenance inspection from a certified h-d mechanic before you bought it? i hate to say it, but you're at just as much fault here.

I'll go for the $1000, then if I get $500 - I'll still be happy, and the other guy will think he got off pretty good. Regardless, I agree with the guy above. "I'm buying some chrome." Regardless, since you all have told me it's a steal, I'm feeling pretty damn good about that. It rides like a freaken dream, and sounds like one too!
