Default Early 60s era tank

Hey all!

I acquired this tank awhile ago and it's just been sitting in the garage. From what I can find, it's early 60s. It seems to be in good condition (other than the hideous rattle can yellow). What is this tank worth?

Thanks,
B

I cant see it cause my work IT blocks images, but I want to say, identify what bike it fits then go from there.

Lets see some all around pictures and is there any rust inside tank? Do some research on tank badge and that should date tank.

I don't know what it would be worth but the emblem/badge looks to be a 61' or 62'.

Lets see a pic of the flat side of that tank please I'm not seeing the the front tabs and the petcock looks too far forward to be an early tank. Emblem looks like a repop too so don't guess the year by it I've got the same ones on a set tanks off an Evo.

Good catch on that. I didn't even look at the tank, just the emblems but yea the petcock looks to be way forward of where it was on a 61-62. Should be back past the halfway point to the rear IIRC.

Original early 60's tanks have the fuel line way up front under the tank and the screw type petcock on top of the tank in front of the left gas cap. Maybe it's a 70's shovel tank. The early badges could be a later addition.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but it looks like that may be a one piece full tank (not the left side of a fatbob), maybe one of those tanks for a Sportster made to look like a set of fatbobs, then with the '61-'62 star emblems. I think Harley had a touring Sportster model that had a tank like that - maybe in the 80's - that had an indentation in the top for the gauges and cover.
bspurr13, is it a full one piece tank or is it just the left side of a set of fatbobs? The lack of mounting tabs up front at the top or bottom makes me think the former.

Now it appears to be from a FL carbureted model beginning from whenever they started putting the fuel gauge in the left cap.
