I live in SC. No helmet required but I work in NC. Helmet required. I wear a novelty helmet in NC. When at home I do not wear a helmet. I have been looking for a dot helmet for a yr now. If I could find one that did not make me look like a fool. I would wear it. No luck so far. I am tall but skinny. I look like a giant mushroom with a helmet on. You have any ideas for one that would not make me look like a fool? Thanks.

all I want is a flat simple single strap skid lid lol
i know what you mean. you can take some of those goofy shaped ones and pull the moulding off the edge and cut them down until they are straight. last good one i bought came from a swap meet. havn't seen another in quite awhile.

I have one in my garage, don't consider it a helmet though, more of a plastic hat. Iwouldnt mind a WW1 Geman spike novelty helmet.

That's the motive for wearing a beanie, to be "cool"?
I always thought wearing a helmet had some unimportant purpose..like protecting your head from injury.

This beanie comes close, that is the side straps don't go around the ears- but just provide a little stability from the helmet being an air scoop at speed and to sit firmly on the head.

No respectable motorcycle gear store will sell that garbage your are looking for.

It is Probably illegal and they don't do it to ruin their reputation and liability.

You just have to go to one of those shady pop up tent stores, like you said, at a rally to find them. You know the ones that don't pay their taxes and deal under the table.

You might as well just put on a bicycle helmet. They look even cooler than those skid lids

Got a Prussian cavalry spike helmet. Pre-WW1 and made of molded horsehide. Thing is a chick magnet. They all want their picture taken wearing it.

absolutely. I started riding when I was 19, unlike most of the guys on here who got their first bike at 45-50 yrs old. I rode with a few older guys that I thought were cool, so I wanted to be cool also. that's what kids do.
25 yrs later, i'm a little older and have a 3/4

I beg to differ, nothing is cooler than my Kieth Haring style beanie cap...
