Shifter scuff on boot
I'm really putting a hurt'n on my left boot from the shifter. The leather is really scuffed and I have cracks forming in the creases. Its only a matter of time before I have a hole.
I think I have seen riding boots with an extra patch of leather there to reinforce it.
Anyone take their boot to a cobbler to have them add one? Any other suggestions besides replacing the boots?

What type of shifterpeg do you have on your shifter? H-D offers several different shifter pegs in the catalog, perhaps your's is a bit "abrasive" compared to some. Try a different shifter peg and might solve your problem.

i dunno but your shifter might take a lot more force to up shift than say my Accutronix one... which by my opinion on how it shifts will never wear a hole or even scuff my cruiser works boot

Sounds like you need better boots...
I bought a pair of Chippewa Steel-toe work boots from the internet real cheap. Comfy and no fancy decorations or anything - justy good, solid, work boots. I've had them a couple of years and no problems at all with shifter damage, although there is a scuffed area - not sure you'll get around that because it IS a contact point.

I have the stock shifter on my 05 1200 C and wear Ariat boots. I've worn them over 10,000 miles and you can't tell the left boot from the right.
