Funny Things People Have Told You About A Used Bike?
I went to look at a 1986 Kawasaki KX 500. The guy had this look in his eye like the Bike was the Devil.....He says you can ride it but I won't even sit on it. He acted like it was a WILD BULL.....So I said what is the BIG DEAL? He says oh someone put a Suzuki third gear in it....Ok So I took it for a ride. 1st gear no big deal. Second gear it pulled well...Hit THIRD GEAR....It would come on the pipe and stand straight UP AND DOWN !!!! Of course I bought it but it was a little wild to ride. Must have been ported or something?
The KX 500 is a handful w/o the "Suzuki gear" [doubtful] had 2 and a 500 Suzy quadzilla among my many other 2 stroke terrors. H1's H2's RD's [most ported and chambered] would run circles around bigger 4 strokes
My Hayabusa came to me cheap because it scared the $#!& outa the 63 y/o guy who bought it because he thought it looked cool.
This antique eats bikes twice its size
I once called a guy and made an appointment to see his bike. I asked him not to start the bike until I arrived so I could witness a cold start. He agreed. When I arrived, I noticed the motor was warm. I questioned the seller and he said the bike wasn't started in over a week. I didn't buy the bike because it had numerous issues, but I still couldn't believe the guy lied in such an obvious situation.
sometimes you wonder if people think you've never looked at a spec sheet or just compleatly unfamiliar with bikes or something. just yesterday kinda wandering to work i stopped in a pawn shop that had a suzuki sv650 in it. stock as far as i could tell. the owner told me it tops out around 200 mph.
Bought my first harley sportster and the guy said he never took it past 60 mph. He would go on rides with people and they would take off on the highway at 70mph.. he would just cruise at 60.
Not really funny but something you hear and go.... Ahh.. k
I had a guy give me the sales pitch on his Kawasaki 500 like in the pic above about how it has a "racing cam" I kid you not... a 2 stroke with a cam I kept trying to tell him no it didnt , but he persisted and went on to say it also had new 'power bands'
Was looking for my wife's first Harley a few years ago. Found a '96 Low Rider that had a scarecrow on the front fender along with some custom striping on the paint.
The owner tried to tell is it was owned by a member of John Mellencamp's group and was ridden in his Scarecrow video. Never mind that the video came out in 1984.
We bought the bike and researched the scarecrow on the front fender out of curiosity and found out it was the trademark of the painter that did the work on it.
Not really funny but the older gentleman I bought my bike from told me that it was too much bike for his old bones. He bought it, rode home from dealership and parked it in garage for almost 5 years! His son did ride it once in a while to keep the engine running.
I bought it bone stock with 817 miles put on in 5 years ...
