When I bought my Flathead, myself and the seller were in some heavy negotiations. For his bottom line number, I told him the bike had to be running. Well he spends 30 minutes trying to kick it life before he gives in and we get to my number. Looked like he was going to give himself a heart attack.
Next day I have the bike home and decide to charge the battery. The cable terminals are seriously corroded, take it all apart and clean it up with a wire brush and some baking soda then put it on a trickle charger overnight. Next day she surprised the s**t out of me by trying to start on the fifth kick. Within a half hour she was idling away.
Moral of the story, try and start the bike at least the same week the seller is coming to look at it, not ten years before!?!??!?!

During my AirForce days in Phoenix AZ, I traded a 1972 Suzuki 185 for a 1967 BSA 650. Saw the BSA on the side of the highway and decided to give it a once over. Owner was upset he had spent "several hundred dollars" rebuilding the electrical and the battery simply would NOT stay charged. He was convince it was full of demons and wanted another bike. With a little haggeling he accepted the Suzy as an even swap.
I asked him for a pait of pliers to check the battery connections and then foun d his problem. He had installed the battery with the Neative Ground just like his american car. But the Bike was of European delivery and worked perfectly when I changed the battery to Positive Ground. I did the swap using his pliers, in his driveway!
Put allmost 15,000 mies on the bike without a hitch till I traded it.

The way many on here worship some of these women (fighters, **** stars, etc.) you could probably get by just auctioning the seat.
