check out www.mec.ca or some other mountaineering type places. You should be able to find some gear that will suit you.

Just snuggle up with the gal in your avatar and she will keep you warm

I always take my 0 degree bag and thermarest. It is a lot easier to get a little warm and kick the covers off than to be out there wishing you had something more keep from freezing.
I throw it in a compression sack and can get it down to about a 12" x 30" roll.

Best bag I`ve found and had for a while is an army causalty sleeping bag, it`s not real small but it will hold 2 for those colder nites , takes the place of 2 bags if you take your honey, or of you get luckey on the road ! it you don`t know what they are it`s an oversized downmummy style army sleeping bag, it will compress down pretty well. it unzips and you can use it for a cover on warmer nites...

I have an old military mummy bag from the late 60's. It's a single man bag but most of the fluff is gone from the feathers. It's more like a warm weather bag now. The quills on the feathers are real stiff and always poke their way out through. They might have been made from cheaper duck down back then ?

We have a military surplus store around here somewhere. I'll check the new bags out.

I hear ya. Not sure my idea is so great. I am looking at sleeping bags that will pack small. I may change my mind.
