Default Lifter question

I'm underway with the Cam chain tensioner job on my 04 twincam, after measuring my crank run out, I going gear drive. I pulled the rocker boxes off to shim my rocker arm clearance. Going back with New Cams, and I want to run the Comp Cams 850-1 lifters, now, if I run these lifters, can I use my stock pushrods?
Thanks in Advance

If the new lifters are the same dimension as stock, they won't prevent you from using the stock pushrods. What does matter, is the lobe base on your new cams. You could check the new cam lobe dimensions, or contact the cam's manufacturer and ask them. I re-used the stock pushrods with my Andrews 24Ns. You understand how this stuff works, right?

Sorry , I included too much info that might have caused a problem. I do not know if the Comp 850 lifters and stock Harley lifters have the same dimensions, that's what trying to find out.
Has anyone here run the Comp Cams p/n 850 lifters with stock push rods ?

what RK4ME is saying is that your new cam (and new lifters) comes into the equation of if you can use your stock push rods as well.

Your cams base circle and total lift may/probably be different that the previous set and with just that mod you may not be able to use the factory push rods, even with the factory lifters.

More info is needed from you.
what cams are you using, what lifters, what rocker arms, have you measured deck height for piston/valve clearance, and possibly more. (I am still learning valve train math as well)

Mike,
I'm running Andrews 37's in my bike, used stock lifter for the build, 10k miles later, the lifters were getting weak so I just upgraded to the 850-1 Comp lifters this weekend. No issues with fitment hope to fire it up tonight.

Background on my build, '03 FLHTCI 98", SE heads ported by Hillside, 37 cams, ported TB, tuned by Doc with TTS, 111Tq 108hp.
But I did have to use adjustable pushrods with the initial build.

Hello Chevelle 72
Are you running adjustable pushrods or the stock fixed length pushrods?

With the build I did, I had to use adjustables, the stock ones were too long.

Thanks Chevelle72, I believe you answered my question. I will be using Andrews 26 cams and was hoping to run the stock pushrods. The heads will not be removed. I don't have the cams or the lifters in hand just yet so I cannot pre assemble and check. Thanks to the others who answered.

when I had my 26H's put in, I had new stock lifters installed (I had 16k on old ones) along with the stock pushrods put back in.

that was 38K ago and now with 53K, its still running fine.. the lift on the 26's are a hair less than .500 so they are really easy on the lifters vs some other high lift cams..

Like RK4ME stated, it's the bottom of the cam lobe that would basically dictate the pushrod length.
That being said the 26's shouldn't require different pushrods, the 37's shouldn't have either, but on my build the jugs were cut and the heads milled to get the clearances I wanted.
You should be ok, install the rocker arm supports gently per the manual, wait 15 min or so, if you can't spin the pushrod then there's an issue.
My cams, the 37's are only .510 lift, it's my valve springs that are hard on the HD lifters,,,,,,

Hope this helps.
