New Indy shop in Tucson
I was getting frustrated trying to find an affordable rear tire for my bike. I knew that a new Dunlop 402 MU85B16SW was worth about $140 to $150 bucks. I could get one on the internet delivered to my door for $137, or at the HD shop for $145 or at another local shop for $205. [:@]If I bought on the net, I'd have to find someone to balance it (I could have mounted it) but no one would touch a tire they didn't provide. The HD shop wouldn't even mount a tire that I bought from them unless they took the wheel off the bike and put it back on. They said it was a liability issue. [:@]I contacted a couple of other shops and they wanted waaaay too much for the job. It looked like I was going to have to pay about $275.00 to get a new tire (that was the cheapest I could find).
On Wednesday, I was out doing estimates when I passed a new shop called Bikers Bay at 22nd and Swan. I called them and they quoted me $151 for the tire, $20 to mount and balance it if I brought the wheel in, and $20 more if I brought the whole bike. I showed up there this morning at 8:00am with the whole bike, and was on the road by 9:00 with my new rear tire installed for $191.00 plus tax, and I got to watch. Their tech Nathan is HD certified, and a grad of MMI in Phoenix, and he whipped though it in about 45 minutes. I feel like I got a good job at a fair price.

If you didn't ride like a maniac you wouldn't need a new tire so often.
glad you found a place to get tires done. We ahve a good indy up here that will do them, but the HD shop here will also do other people's tires if you take the tire and wheel in off of the bike.

I wonder if a businesslike that could only exist in year round warm weather places. I'd love to see something like that out here in the Northeast, but they wouldn't have much business in the winter. Unless they were doing engine mods and stuff.
