ORIGINAL: billnourse...The first time you do a 400 mile day in the rain you will know that it was money well spent...
Exactly...Don't skimp on your rain gear (or any protective clothing for that matter). Spend the money now, it'll last for years.

People who say :

"Any rain gear I've tried over the years was like wearing asweat suit. I finally decided it's easier to just get wet and not worry about it."

This dude did hasn't rode in behind me in a rain/sleet storm before. This guy must ride in warm weather!

If you do much riding when there is a chance of rain invest in a good rain suit. Frogg Toggs are very good I have one myself, light weight, breathable, rain does not leak in. The only problem I have found they do melt to the pipes it ifthe materialcomes in contact with it.

Tourmaster also sells a nice product.I have the bibb verison which is nice. I only boughtthe bottoms and use my frogg togg top to save money.

Which HD suit do you recommend? I've looked at the lightweight packable two-piece and the Overpass suit @ $159...pretty nice but I'm not sure I want to pay that much.

Packable Rain Suit

The pants have zipper, snap, and elastic at the waist, that allows it to stretch pertty good. I have had to use it several times when I got caught out.

I actually picked this suit up today in prepearation for Myrtle. I would recommend staying away from the Harley suit that comes in the round bag, It is glued rather than stitched together.

Although pricey, I use the HD raingear. Rode 2 hours in a Colo. blizzard at 8-9,000 feet last fall, stayed warm and dry.

WalMart rain suit. $20 and easy to get new one if you plump up over the summer.
