Any trick to threading the clutch cable into the transmission cover.

No, it screws on. Replace the o-ring.

The only trick I found was no more than 3 beers, I hear ya on this one, patience is a virgin.

You'll need some big, strong snap ring pliers to remove/install the big retaining ring. Otherwise, it's pretty easy. Like Tman says, replace the o-ring, so it doesn't leak.


Most tedious part is removing the exhaust system to get access to the transmission cover. In my case, I could remove the muffler, loosen the headers at the cylinder heads and gain enough clearance to get the cover screws out.

Tighten it very slowly, don't over tighten it , breaks real easy

After my 6th beer and removing old cable must have messed up the threads retaped and no problems. All back together. Just had to remove heat shield had a small Allen that fit in there didn't have to remove exhaust.

Don't over tighten otherwise you'll be swearing and yelling....and replacing the primary cover.

I "wind" up the cable opposite the thread direction before putting it in the end cover to start threading it.
