Had a many in bikes over the years. Probably what is in my Yamaha. The USA is off most Harley gel cell batteries now days. Walmart had a gelcell for less then $100. Should fit you Softail just like mine. Made in China. Mine is close to three years old. Has not missed a beat and I only maintenance charge in the winter since my rides get spotty. You do have to pour the acid into the gell but its is sealed when you snap the caps on. Does have a spacer for the Softail side connector but my connections stay tight as compared to both Harley OEM batteries. My last two Harley batteries last 5 year + but the last year was weak on both. At a $100 , I will replace mine at the end of 2016. Four years is a plenty. When mine gets to low cranking amps, I start getting kick backs and starter bangs from a weak solenoid magnet dropping out slamming the gear back into the starter.

 

This could be my problem with my 94.

 

Have always had problems with my 94 EVO too. Maybe this is why! Won't hold a charge and so won't start!

 

Yuasa is a good battery. If you need an agm battery with more power,go with an Odyssey.
The only USA made battery that uses pure lead plates. Not a fan of battery tender,prefer an Optimate charger/ tender.

 

dont know how you guys do it but i have never had a motorcycle battery that lasted over 3 years. tender or not
but it is hot here in florida

 

There really only two battery makers for powersports in the USA. East Penn/Deka & Johnson Controls. The stock OEM battery is the same battery as: Big Crank/Deka/O'Reilly/Duracell gray case/NAPA/Duralast & others. They have also made batteries for Yuasa. Interstate is made by Johnson Controls. But the Duracell gray case, it has a two year warranty & you can pick it up at Battieries Plus & cheaper than OEM. Yuasa are great batteries too. Drag Specialties I believe are Yuasa made.
