I'm not sure if you've stopped reading this thread since there's been so many troll responses.

As for my response.

I wear a vest to keep my chest warm and to keep my shirt from flapping in the wind.
I also wear a vest to show my pride and respect to my fellow Veterans and to show where I've been.

My everyday vest is one that is free of patches that I wear when I'm just out riding.
I guess you could call it my "functional vest".

My "ceremonial" vest has a "never forget" center patch with a "US Air Force" top rocker and "Retired" bottom rocker.

I have on my right breast the US Flag and on my left breast a "US Air Force Retired" patch.
Under the Air Force patch I have the Patriot Guard triangle patch.

All the other items I have on my "ceremonial" vest are all pins that I've picked up during my travels.

I think each patch/pin should have a specific meaning but that's my choice.
If you want to load up a vest with patches/pins just to dress up a vest that's your choice/business.

I think you should look at "Hot Leathers" or even e-bay for patches.

Damn I don't have any patches or any ink. I've been doing it wrong all this time.

I actually broke down and bought a vest this weekend. It was just cool enough a hoodie wasn't quite warm enough, the jacket was a little too warm even with all the vents opened up, but with the vest on over the hoodie it was just right. It also offers the advantage that I can carry my full size pistol on my right hip OWB and keep it covered off the bike. That's really nice I've gotten tired of my Kahr 9mm digging into me when I ride several days in a row on big trips.

Did you look like this? Well, with a knife instead of a pistol.
