I helped one out one time, but it ended with me riding away with two backstraps in my saddle bags.

Really though, that was a cool thing you did.

I think that's pretty cool and kudos to you for saving the deer. Only you will know whether it was safe or not.

That reminded me of a similar incident when I was about 13 years old (a long long time ago). My parents and I were driving thru eastern Colorado on our way home from a deer hunt. We hadn't gotten a deer that year. We spotted a small deer a short distance from the highway that was stuck straddling a barbed wire fence. Apparently it had tried to get overthe fenceand got hung up with the wire at his belley. We stopped and lifted the deer off the fence and my mother (a surgical nurse) got out her first aid kit and spent about an hour sewing up the wounds while my dad and I held it down and tried to keep it calm. When we were finished, the young deer slowly limped off into a field. No idea if the little guy made it, but it was a good feeling to have tried to help.

I can't comment on the safety of dealing with an injured animal like that but sounds like good karma to me.

Pretty nice thing to do, mainly because you may have prevented an accident.

Sadly, I think the chances are with an obviously broken leg it won't make it.
