This recent stir of some people not being able to afford thier bikes has got me thinking. I am just curious as to how many people own their bikes outright as opposed to making payments on it. I own mine as does Scootergrrl. How about you? And know this is in no way meant to make anyone feel less than someone else. We'll take care of you folks as much as we can...

We're currently trying to get out of the debts I have from school loans, and my wife's been anti-debt for her entire life. As much as I'd love to be able to ride right now, I think it's more likely I'll end up saving up for a few years and paying with cash. It'll be a nice feeling to completely own my first scoot, but the waiting is killing me...

 

I don't owe anything on my bike so I guess I own it outright, but I did a refi on the house to get the money to buy the bike. I had a LOT of equity in it, the rates were lower than what I was paying, and the interest is tax deductable. The wife is an RN and considering the tax bracket we are in because of what she makes, I need deductions!

Paid cash for mine.

 

I did long term financing to keep the payments at something I knew I could afford. Been almost a year since I got the bike but I plan to pay it off sooner than the length of the loan.

 

I own one outright and make payments on the other.
