I'm trading my XL tomorrow for an 07Street Glide. I've decided to finance the $9500.00 balance on my trade at HD's 2.99% promo rate. Now, with deals like that why would anyone want to pay cash?

At the very least, you could invest the money you would have paid cash for the bike in safe investments and earn at least 4-5% a year?

Precisely... especially when you consider that the market was near bottomed out when i bought my bike, so all the stuff I bought up then has appreciated nicely.

I bought my Fatboy outright in April of 2006. Had been considering getting a bike for about a year before and when I sold some property I figured it was time or else the profit would be gone before I knew it. With 2 kids in college that wasn't going to take long. There was never a second thought as to what brand of bike the purchase was going to be. I wasn't about ot buy a Jap bike and then wish I had purchased a Harley. So I started out on top and will never look back.

This is another way of asking if you're a RUB.

Of the around 7 bikes I have owned over the years this is the first one I have not owned outright. Still making payments and will be for a few more years.

That's exactly what one should do even if they have the cash. When I bought my '06 almost ayear and a halfago there was not any promo rate that low so I paid cash and came out ahead, otherwise I would have financed it and left my money in a 5.25% CD. It only makes good sense to do that.

bought my mothers house DIRT cheap, because i am her favorite son. but some extra financing into the house. once the papers were signed we drove to the dealer and wrote a huge fat azz check. i was so nervouse i had to have the wife fill it out i just signed it. she is all mine since day one.
