RE: The "I own my bike outright" poll...
I took my retirement bonus and squandered it on my bike (The wifey said, It's YOUR money), I could have bought an 07' for what I paid for this 05', but it had SO much done to it already, I've put another $1000 in it since this picture posted here.

Bought my 85 E Glide used for cash, had no great credit at the time and what a wonderful feeling to own the bike outright right from the get go. Road the thing for 2 days straight before i took a rest, one of the happiest days of my life. Bought my next harley 99 Nighttrain cash with the help of a tax rebate check and some savings, 2000 ZX12R cash, just had to have a go at a superbike. Then a 88FXR cash from a buddy that was in dire straights for money, good price also. 03 Buell XB9S from an insurance auction, paid by credit card and paid off in 3 payments, price was so good that the interest didn't hurt bottom line. I have an 08 Street Bob on order through Military cars, delivery in April 08, putting enough away each month from now till then to pay for it on delivery. It's nice to pay cash for your bike, its yours and nobody can take it away from you, however earlier in life if my credit had been better damn right i would have bought a Harley on credit, the ride is worth it, the experience, everything. I hear it day in day out I love to get one if only. Well if you want something bad enough you'll find a way, credit helps for those that just don't have deep pockets.

This recent stir of some people not being able to afford thier bikes has got me thinking. I am just curious as to how many people own their bikes outright as opposed to making payments on it. I own mine as does Scootergrrl. How about you? And know this is in no way meant to make anyone feel less than someone else. We'll take care of you folks as much as we can...

I paid cash for mine. I refused to go into deep debt for a bike. I see too many people selling 2007 bikes wth less than 500 miles and shake my head. Yeah I may own a sportster but I also own the title and my bike is bought and paid for.
