Traded a '03 Volusia & paid the difference in cash, so I own it. Currently saving for a custom kit bike & the wait is interminable!! I'll get there eventually!

I had to finance mine, there is no way that I would be getting enough money to buy one outright at my age. I am only 19 and I couldn't fathom not riding. So far this year has been great and I have already put 1600 miles on my sporty. Even though payments are the greatest I wouldn't have it any other way right now I love my HD it keeps me sane.
Good for you bro'! Youth doesn't lastfor verylong, trust me on that! Ride safe.

Toys are never bought on credit. Credit is for houses, cars, and emergencies. Explains why I have never had a new bike until this one.
...
toy? i cant get to work in a car. too much traffic and no parking. the motorcycle is a serious tool, my primary transportation, and has been so for a long time.

that said, i agree with you on not being tied to buying new.

I financed mine. Put 2k down. made payments for 5 months. Then used a bonus from work and paid 6k down. Withdrew a bunch of money from investments to put 20% down on a house i'm getting ready to buy. I think i'm going to have a bunch of extra money left over, so I'm probably going to use what's left over to hopefully pay off the bike.

I don't like to have more than one monthly note due. So I'm trying to trade the bike note for a mortgage and associated utilities....
