Hello, I am new to this forum and am looking for some advice. I recently bought an 05 Softail Deluxe from a local Cleveland dealership. I Love the look of the bike, but unfortunately after logging a few miles I realized I was not comfortable at all (I'm 6'2 and felt very cramped). The dealership installed a HD Tallboy seat for me which seems to have helped but in my opinion really destroys the stream line look of the motorcycle. I was debating between the Softail and the Road King when I first started looking, and am considering telling the dealership that the Deluxe is just not the bike for me.

Any thought on which will be a better fit for me? 05 Softail Deluxe or 05/06 Road King Standard/Custom??

I do alot of "city" riding but also want to be able to cruise for a few hours at a time.

I've never ridden the Deluxe, but know some people who have them. Take a ride on a Road King Classic or Custom and you'll have your answer, I think. I had a springer softail--now that I have a RKC, it's hard for me to ever imagine riding anything else. Love that bike.

 

I put a Mustang Regal Touring seat on my RKC and I sit much higher. The Deluxe is too low for someone your size.

 

I had a Deluxe too, thankfully my dealer gave me full price for trade in a month later.
Great looking bike though, lots of compliments.

As you can see to the left I seem to even make my Streetglide look little.

 

Did you trade the Deluze because of the size? Or was there another reason?

 

You could try some mini-apes from a Softail Custom to improve the ride position on the Deluxe. The ride on a RK will be COMPLETELY different.I'm partial to the ride of a touring bike. I just think it's smoother. But, I like jumping on my wifes Deluxe for a little ride too. Over 100 miles, I'm going to stick with my Ultra... too many candy a$$ creature comforts.
