Default Question about getting a used Harley Road King

Looking at buying a used 2003 HD Road King.
(Craigslist about 4 hours from me.)
Price is good. Pics look good.
Maintenance records, one owner (Works at Harley shop),
22,000 miles, synthetic oil used. New tires, new brakes.

All is a go, but I am concerned that it does not have ABS brakes.
Years ago, I had a Yamaha 1100 Classic that I had a couple close events sliding down the street trying to stop. I recently sold a 2010 Road King that had the ABS brakes which really helped me especially one time where I didn't slide & it stopped me quickly. Hated to get rid of it but had to for $.

Now this 2003 bike is available for $7,000.00. That is do-able pricewise for me. Just not sure if I am making ABS brakes too much an issue as they were not even available at that time?

I understand that even if they save you 1 time, they are worth the $ but to get a used Harley with ABS brakes, 2008 or later will be the only choice & the price then goes up substantially.

Any opinions...? Thanks!

Of course they are great to have. But it will cost you more to have. But a Road King as you describe if in fact in the condition would be a good deal for 7K. Just make sure you ask him for places he worked and then call and confirm, etc.

ABS? Damn it, man. We have been riding scoots for years without ABS, my first ABS took some time to get used to in the rain. My two cents, you need much more time in the saddle. I not dissin ya, trying to wake you up. Get the RK if you like it, everything else will fall into place.

I still ride a couple of bikes with drum brakes and tank shifters. Just stay alert and you will be fine.
