Default Sportster 883 to 1200 upgrade

Advice needed. Does it cause problems/extra expense beyond the conversion.
What else needs to be done other than the top end change?

No issues that I know of. I had an 883 sportster that was converted to a 1200 and no issues. Just swap and go.

Thanks for the replies folks. I went on.if itthe forum which prompted the question.
Complications included carbs, gears, types of piston, who supplies the kit and more.
I could replace things step by step but if it required anything else to match up I'd struggle.

Why not sell the bike and get the one you want?

All of the doo dads add up, and you generally do not get that money back when you sell the motorcycle.

I don't own the bike yet, I've been looking at 883s as an option but if a 1200 becomes available at the right price then it's a no brainer

Yeah, I like my Sportster, but when the time arose, I went with a Super Glide. It fits my needs for two up highway riding etc. I still would like to do the 883-1200 conversion though, just for one up kicks on my Sportster.

My buddy just did this conversion. It seemed straight forward enough.

I think the biggest issue is getting the carb jetting just right, if you're OCD.

Do you think you could do it yourself?
