Just tell him that it would be safer for both of you if you didn't ride together because your riding styles are so different, and that it's not safe for you to ride slow with him, and it's probably not safe for him to try to keep up with you. Explain to him that you need to concentrate on what's in front of you and next to you, not who's 1/4 mile behind you.

Do like I did once to a stranger that wanted to lead a pack of us home from a PGR mission...we'd stopped to gas up anddrink a coke and they were standing around near her bike. I walked over and asked permission to touch her bike and she said yes and now everyone was looking at me to see what was going on. I reached over and turned her throttle and said 'Hmmm...doesn't seem to be broken.' She got the picture and got us back on at or 5 above speed limit from before at 5 or 10 below speed limit.

Gee.. that's a tough one! Maybe its a woman thing because if someone means well the last thing you wanna do is hurt their feelings. Some people just have the knack of letting people down easy by they way they word things..ole diamond in the rough here does not possess that skill lol ..hope all works out good

Haven't had this happen in a longtime. I've noticed some riding techniques from other motorcycle disciplines. I can almost always spot a trials rider. I can always spot a dirtbike rider by their actions on the street. I can definately spot a road racer. They have "light" hands on the controls.
They might be a great rider, they just need some retraining, that's all. Usually, dirtbike riders develop into the most skilled riders. Lately, I've been riding with other ridercoaches. Some can ride, and some need to stay in the parking lot. I guess it's just like everything else (including porridge.) Some are too slow, and some are too fast...the trick is to find riders that are "just right."
