Default HD Saddle Bag Recall

I'm trying to see if anyone else has had issues getting recall damage reimbursed, shortly after I bought my 2015 Street Glide Special my right saddle bag fell off while driving, damaged the bag lid and hinge cover, being that it was a brand new bike I thought I must have done something wrong (even though I know how the cam locks work and always give the bag a test tug after putting them on). I have been piecing back together with parts I found on Ebay and the only thing left is to replace the lid,Well here we are a few months later and HD issues a recall, I call my dealership and they are giving me the runaround saying I should have brought it in when it happened and I probably won't be reimbursed for the parts I have already replaced since it happened before the recall...HUH!!!, so everyone that had the bag fall off that caused HD to issue a recall is SOL too, makes no sense, any suggestions or options anyone might know of would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard of people who got their bag replaced for free. So I wouldn't give up the good fight just yet.

Ask to speak with the manager. If he is unable to resolve, then ask to speak with regional manager. Then it will be resolved.

I definately plan on fighting, All I wanted was reimbursed for what I spent (got a good deal on a take off bag on ebay) even though it would have been alot more for them to replace at catalog cost. worst case I put all the damaged stuff back on roll in to HD say it just happened get them to replace everything then sell it on Ebay lol

this is what i would do and then hang on to the other bag for when one of your pals falls over on you at a stop light.

All I had to do was bring the receipt for my saddle bag to the HD dealer, they filled out the claim form and faxed it to Corporate. I didn't get the replacement bag from a local dealer, I ordered the parts from Ronnie's HD and assembled it myself. Didn't know back this spring that there would be a recall, and saved hundreds of dollars over the local dealers

What a timely thread. I just got home from a PGR escort of the VietNam Traveling Wall to St. James, Mn., and a friend showed up with a brand new Harley...didn't even have plates on it yet....but one saddlebag missing. Yep, it fell off.

Regardless of what happens do yourself a favor and get the Brukus Saddlebag Secure kit. Never worry about it again.
