I'm guessing the biggest drop in value on any vehicle is the first couple of years. Farther down the line is where your Harley will hold more of it's value.

Around 25% doesn't seem to be better than any other bike out there.

That's 24% depreciation from brand new to used. Name another vehicle that does better.

The days of top dollar for a used bike went out the door when Harley started producing more bikes. Before supply met demand, people didnt want to wait 1 to 2 years for their bike to get built. So they were willing to pay top $$ for a nice used bike. Now they can walk into any dealership, anywhere and ride out, the same dayon a new bike. Great for buyers, sucks for sellers.

The thing about your bitch is that 13k's about what it's worth to most people. For about 2k more than that I can get a brand new one. Not to mention a bigger motor and the, it's MY bike and no-one else haseverowned itfactor. It's down the road when the "They hold their value" part kicks in.
Go try to buy a mid to late 90's HD and see what they go for vs what they cost new.

Plus the dealership will sell you that new one for 2 grand more and just roll it into a payment. What's another $40 bucks a month to have a brand new bike? Financing (sometime creative financing) is the reason a dealer can get top dollar for a used bike.
