Sneaky, sneaky dealer
'12 FLHP. Bought it from Bruce Rossmeyer in Ft Lauderdale with 60 miles on it in April 2012. April. And like the good doobie that I am, I went back at 1000 to let them rob me for an oil change and thousand mile service.
Fast forward: Started having some mysterious voltage issues, as in park it for 3 days and the battery goes dead. Had the tech (Indie) check it, and the battery tested good, as did the rest of the ignition etc.
So the Tech gets on his laptop and connects with the MoCo ... shows me a page that contains all my information, including the date I bought it and sumbitch ... there's a Recall for the voltage regulator issued June of 2012. Less than two months after I bought it, and before it went in to the same dealer for the 1000 mile.
Oh and ... the recall/warranty expired in 2014. Never received anything in the mail, never a word from the dealer when I was there, several times.
Now I'm not losing any sleep over this, it just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. A recall shouldn't expire, and the MoCo really should eat it because I was never notified. No chance.
That's it, end of whine, back to your regularly scheduled stations.

I had an out of warranty issue and called the HD customer service line before I went to the dealer. I explained the problem and they agreed they would cover it. They gave me a service order number to take to the dealer. Dealer didn't have anything to say about it, they just did the repair. Give it a shot!

Yes they do expire. Many recalls are not publicized and only used if the customer complains of the specific problem.
