you can't beat a full face in bad weather, a 3/4 is much better than a half for wind.

 

I got my 3/4 for cold weather riding, but quickly noticed it provided some much need noise protection. might try it now that its getting warmer out and it has thoses vents in the top part. if I keep using the 1/2 helmit I'll need a hearing aid soon.,,

 

I agree - no windshield and 70mph with a 1/2 helmet will always result in a lot of head buffeting. A 3/4 helmet is a big improvement. A full face eliminates all buffeting.
I have a small windshield on my bonneville and I cannot run above 70mph with my shorty helmet. My heritage has a slightly cut down standard windshield and I can run with a shorty at 75+mph and have no head buffeting at all.

 

I bought a half helmet to wear while teaching MSF, and made the mistake of wearing it to Sturgis, thinking that it would be cooler.

The wind noise was terrible, and coming home in a crosswind it darn near took my head off, riding a full faired Venture.

Never again. I've never had those problems with my 3/4 Shoei.

 

The proper fit is a MUST! I love my 3/4 helmet but the darn thing is too big and I get wind noise big time. I also like my full face but it's also too big and that gets old in a hurry. Make sure you try on the helmet you want prior to purchasing. 1/2 helmet just plain sucks in the wind. No matter which helmet you choose, wear earplugs. Your ears will thank you (as well as your loved ones) after a ride.

 

3/4's are my favorite. Just bought a second 3/4 helmet. Check out Justified Defiance -- they have some kick *** helmets.

 

I can't stand full face helmets so I save them for when it's below 40 degrees out. 3/4 helmets with a visor keep most of the wind out. When it gets above 80 I remove the visor as I like the wind.

Bad thing about 3/4 helmets is most of them look rather drab. It seems that everyone wears a full or a 1/2. In Europe they have a ton of cool looking 3/4 helmets. So I got an Italian made one and now I am happy.
