Angry Nice Design Harley!!!

I just installed the detachable backrest hardware and for the most part it went smooth. The issue that I have now is that I can close the lids on the saddlebags but its a pain in the butt to open them. Looks like they are hanging up on the rear screw of the mount. Anyone have a suggestion that could help me out?

The piano hinge wants to go further before it will disconnect. I did find out that on the left side if I lift a little on the front of the lid it will disconnect but the right on is stuck on good. I don't want to force it and scratch the lid. I have the protective strips on but it wont take long before the screws wear through those.

My guess is you did something wrong. I've found that whenever I wonder why any manufacturer made something that doesn't work right, chances are excellent I missed a key step. Especially if it's an age old product like the quick release mounting points on a Harley.

For clarification - are we talking the 4-point mounting system?

Can the screw be turned around/mounted from the other direction?

You need extra spacers, to push the bags out further to give the back rest room to slot in correctly

Well this morning I took it apart again. According to the diagram it shows that the black bracket with the holes goes back into the assembly. After reading the instructions it does say that you should discard that piece. Once I removed the black bracket and put it back together it gave me enough space to open the bags. Its still close and I don't like it but at least I can open and close the bags.

I guess another lesson learned....

Glad you got it figured out. I'll bet once you get used to the different way of opening the bags you'll like it just fine.
