Had the chance to ride a Big Dog Wolf. Was the most bad-*** bike I ever experienced.

Fantastic stance, pretty easy to ride, and comfortable except as a long haul bike.

Rode with friends that had Big Dogs, but like everyone else, they were not reliable.

The Big Dog choppers and pro-streets have a S&S engine bolted directly to the frame so the bike vibrates all of the time, which leads to some of the failures. From experience, I have had the EHC, two starters, clutch cable, speedometer and tach light rings replaced and the gas tank liner redone. I did ride from Winchester, VA to Seneca Rocks WV to Harrisonburg, VA and back to Winchester in a single day with no issues but I don't think I will repeat that ride.

If the big dog is potty trained, I say go for it.

I have a 105lb Rhodesian Ridgeback and never considered reading in my Harley.
That is what you meant, right?

A friend of mind had a BigDog; got tired of parts falling off of it and the electrical issues. Traded for a StreetGlide, and never looked back. But it was a blast to ride...

Starters were made by Dixie and they are failing left and right. Nobody makes these now and the only place I've even seen rebuilt ones is on E-bay and who knows how long till that guy runs out of components to fix them.
So much for "parts are easy to find". I wouldn't sell or trade a Harley Davidson motorcycle for any kind of "custom" bike.

I had a buddy with a purple BD chopper. The back tire was really wide and so they offset the motor. This made the bike pull to one side all the time. WHAT A POS!!!! Always squeaking and stuff coming off. Keep your HD, it is a reliable and parts-available as an anvil compared to a Bdog. There is a company that basically chopped HD's (Thunder Mountain maybe??) These would be dependable and still have the chopper experience if that is your groove. Just have somebody kick you in the nuts, it will be a LOT cheaper and just as rewarding as a Big Dog purchase.

An acquaintance of mine has a BD, he thinks its the cat's meow. I personally would stick with HD for many reasons such as reliability, parts sources etc. but choppers are really not my cup of tea. I think they are neat to look at, and it seems that BD will end up being garage candy anyway if that's what a person is into.
