Wow! Glad you're recovering!

Is that container approved for gasoline? And the plastic containers usually have vents, no?

And even if vented, your saddlebag will "fill up" with fumes.

I just don't see a solution other than an auxiliary gas tank. Anyone else?

Can't say what hasn't already been said but glad to see that it's no worse than what it is and this is bad enough.

Hope you heal quickly.

I have read of many on here downplaying the risks of carrying gas.

Lesson learned.

I hope you heal up fast, that had to be a scary situation.

Thank you for the heads up as well, my dad always has one of those in his bag, he is headed out west for a 15 day trip here soon, I'll have to tell him if he still wishes to carry that can it better go in the bike trailer.

Of all the things to worry about when riding, blowing up in a ball of flame has never entered my mind! Damn, that's scary!
I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

That's horrifying, and has got me thinking. I've always carried an aluminum bottle with a billet screw cap for white gas for my camp stove. Hope you heal soon, and get past the painful part. Thanks for warning all of us.

Good you survived that one. Years ago one of my friends was hauling gas to another stranded friend. Part way back he was stopped with major gas dripping from his saddle bag the cap had come loose. We talked about that for years always wondered why it never caught fire since the gas was all over the backend of the bike exhaust included.

Well, that sure cured me of any desire to carry extra gas.

Dang... Im with the guy that will never complain about getting burned on the exhaust again.

I hope you have a speedy and pain free recovery as possible. Keep us posted.

I've carried a one gallon plastic gas container on my sissy-bar rack before, I WON'T do that again...

Damn, that sucks big-time. Glad to hear that you're ok. That blows (no pun intended) that your bike got screwed up, but you're gonna be alright, and that's the important thing.

Heal up, Brother. Semper Fi.
