I do remember in 2010 riding w/ the Mrs. in Pecos Tx and riding in town stopping at a traffic light just to have my boot sink about an inch into the asphalt.

It was 1130pm and only getting hotter. Went to the nearest hotel and asked for an early room.

Just the other day it was 88 degrees w/high humidity at 930am.

Hope for the best....amazing story.

In west Texas, yes they are. I remember back in '02 riding a new '02 Indian Chief back to LA from Prescott Valley, AZ. There was a problem with my fuel injection that had dropped my mileage a bit, to where I was sweating out making it from exit to exit without running out. Coming from the west, from El Paso to probably around Kerrvile, you'd better not pass up an exit.

To the OP, get well soon and may God bless, and remember, though it may not seem like it now, what others have said regarding "it could have been worse" and "you were lucky" are indeed true.

Bring a length of tygon tubing on long rides, that way you can at least siphon enough fuel from someone who is good enough to stop and help

Holy Moses! That pic of the bike in flames looks straight out of Mad Max.

My wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully your insurance will cover the damage and hospital bills.

Got to ask...what type of fuel container was it? Reason I ask is that I carry a sealed MSR stove fuel container with extra gas.
Get well soon!

Not much to add, others have already stated it well.

But let me add myself to the list of people that are hoping the best for you, and also to the list of people that applaud you for thinking of us and sending the heads-up.

Kudo's and a big thank you, along with a healthy amount of Best wishes for a satisfactory outcome.

Keep us posted on your progress, and hopefully your replacement ride when that time comes.
