Default Strange noise from bike

My bike started making a weird noise; it sounds like a clatter coming from the area of the throttle body. It isn't overly loud; you hafta listen for it. It increases speed along with engine speed. It ONLY does it when I first start the bike when cold, & after about a minute or so, it disappears suddenly, and you do not hear it again until the next cold start. Doesn't do it with hot starts. It started right after I replaced the SE air filter element with a K&N element.

I'm wondering if the noise was always there, like an intake type noise or something, and now I can hear it since I installed the more free flowing K&N air filter. Anyone have an idea?

I have SE slip ons, SE A/C with K&N, race tuned, SE 254e cams. Bike is an '07 RKC with 9400 miles. Bike starts & runs well, with excellent power.

Put your old filter back on and see if the noise goes away.

Exactly what I was about to do!

OK; Just put old filter back on & waiting for the bike to cool down in the Florida heat.

Just started cold & NO NOISE! I'm hoping that was it. Will test it again tomorrow. Still gonna go back to the K&N; don't mind the noise as long as I knw that's what it was.

Hmmm. Dickey, I think what we have here is a situation where you need to get one of those premium Japanese motor-sickles.

It sounds like reversion from your camshaft however that sound should always be present at certain engine rpm's and load (not just be present when starting cold).
