Any reason this wouldn't work with the RAM mount phone holder?

I already have the RAM mount system but powder coated my bars and would rather not scratch the powder coat using the U-bolt attachment. If I could put the Harley piece on then clamp the RAM mount to the ball end that'd be nice. First thing comes to mind is perhaps the ball end on Harley's setup is too small.

Anyone using this setup? Likes/Dislikes?

 

I am using that mount except mine has 2-1" *****. One on top and one on the face where the word Ram is. I wanted the 2 ball one to mount my phone and my powervision stacked. Also though, I have mine mounted on my bars next to the risers instead of the right or left controls. When I bought the PV, it came with a handle bar mount with a protective sleeve. I just used the protective sleeve with my ram mount. No worries scratching the bars.
